About the client

A multi-tenant office building in London (reception shared by twelve tenants) signed visitors into a paper book. Hosts were not notified; fire lists were photocopied; badges were handwritten.

Full access-control hardware replacement was out of scope. The brief was tablet sign-in, host notify, badge print, and an audit trail the building manager can export for fire and security.

Project overview

We built a visitor product for the shared reception: pre-registration by tenants, walk-up sign-in on a tablet, host email or Teams notify, badge print, and sign-out.

Angular tablet and desk apps, .NET and Azure for tenancy isolation and the audit log. Each tenant only sees their own hosts and visitors.

Functionality

  • Tenant pre-registration and walk-up sign-in on reception tablet
  • Host notification when a visitor arrives
  • Badge print with visit reason and host name
  • Sign-out and live on-site list for fire muster
  • Audit export for the building manager by date and tenant

Solution

  • Reception opens one tablet flow; the visitor picks their host’s tenant from a short list, then the host. Tenants never see each other’s diaries.
  • Host notify fires on arrival. No reply does not block sign-in — reception can still badge the guest and note the attempt.
  • The on-site list is the fire muster source; paper books stopped being photocopied for drills.
  • Audit export is dated and tenant-scoped for the building manager’s security file.

Project results

Paper visitor books left the desk after go-live.

Hosts get a notify when their guest arrives instead of a reception shout.

Fire muster uses the live on-site list.

Building management has a dated audit trail per tenant.

Customer review

“Visitors sign in on the tablet, hosts get a notify, and the fire list is the same screen reception already has open. The paper book is gone.”
